Join the Cell Bio Journal Club: Explore, Present, and Connect Through Molecular and Cellular Biology The Weill Institute’s Cell Biology Hub invites members of the Cornell community to join and present at the Cell Bio Journal Club, a monthly gathering to bring together faculty and trainees in molecular and cellular biology to discuss exciting advances, exchange ideas, and foster collaborations. We invite volunteers to present cutting-edge papers in any area of cell biology. Spring 2026 Meeting Schedule: bi-weekly on Fridays from 9:00-10:00am Location: Weill Hall 321 1/23/2026 TBD 2/6/2026 TBD 2/20/2026 TBD 3/6/2026 TBD 3/20/2026 TBD 4/3/2026 TBD 4/17/2026 TBD 5/1/2026 TBD 5/15/2026 TBD 5/29/2026 TBD 6/12/2026 TBD “The CBJC has a long history. It began around 1985, and has been running continuously almost every Friday. It even survived the pandemic through a transition to virtual meetings and back again. Our resident Cornell historian, Tony Bretscher, estimates that the CBJC has discussed about 1,400 papers (I like to imagine journal clubs before powerpoint).” – Jorgensen, J. (2020), CBJC Listserv Presenting at Journal Club offers participants the opportunity to: Practice scientific presentation skills in a supportive setting Engage with peers from diverse fields Share perspectives on new techniques, methods, or applications Graduate students, postdocs, faculty, and staff are all encouraged to participate. Articles may be drawn from a wide range of disciplines, or you may choose to lead a discussion on a specific technique or application of interest. CBJC Coordinator: Xuran Chen (xc532) CBJC Faculty Advisor: Yuxin Mao (ym253) For questions or to volunteer as a speaker, contact: Xuran Chen xc532@cornell.edu Stay connected: Subscribe to the Cell Bio Journal Club mailing list for updates on upcoming events and meetings. Join Weill Institute for Cell and Molecular Biology and the Structural Biology Hub on Thursday March 12, 2026 for our spring seminar featuring Dr. Bob Keenan, Ph.D., Professor of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the University of Chicago. Dr. Keenan’s lab studies the molecular mechanisms underlying membrane protein biogenesis and quality control using biochemical, structural and cell biology approaches. THURSDAY MARCH 12, 2026 4:00 PM G10 BIOTECH Structural Biology is undergoing a transformation. Breakthrough technologies, from AI-driven structure prediction like AlphaFold to cutting-edge cryo-EM and next-generation mass spectrometry, are rapidly changing how we study protein structure, interactions, and function. The Structural Biology Hub will bring together leading technologists and expert users to explore the latest advances and spark forward-looking discussions on the future of the field. We endeavor to connect researchers from across campus to encourage the sharing of ideas and technology and to facilitate collaborations.
